The Impact of Western Culture on Christendom The Resurrection of Christianity as Counternculture
Christianity has, by and large, reverted to what it was at its inception: a sect considered irrelevant or irritating by most of the world's cultural and political elite - yet the church is growing at a pace not seen since the 1st century.
The Fall of Christendom and the Rise of the Church examines the forces which challenged and virtually eliminated Christianity from the realms of culture, science and politics in most of the Western word. It then juxtaposes these devleopments against the unprecedented growth of the church during the latter half of the 20th and the early part of the 21st centur, and proposes that the socio-political and cultural reduction of Christianity to what it was at its inception may be a blessing in disguise.
By presenting sometimes complex arguments in a style accessible to Christian college freshmen, by focusing on the impact these arguments have had on Christianity, by exlaining why the evangelical church is growing, and by suggesting how it can be "salt and light" in a post-Christian pluralistic world, the book seeks to equip Christian students for life in contemporary society. The book is an ideal textbook for Christian high school or college students. Each chapter concludes with a series of thought provoking questions.
